Could you find a word to put in the blank? Murderous? Slanderous? Adulterous? Maybe another word for people you think won’t be admitted into Heaven or maybe you think your name would go on the blank because of some sin that separates you from God.
Well, there is only one word that goes there…UNSAVED. There is no other person, group of people, or sin that can permanently separate us from the Lord in eternity. It is our salvation, our acceptance of Jesus as our savior, our acknowledgment that He died for our sins and He paid the price so we can be connected to the Lord and take our names off the blank.
The Bible is full of sinful people that were changed when they met the Lord. They fell short, got back up, asked for forgiveness and tried their best to walk with the Lord day after day, just like we do. So here’s another question.
Why do we treat others like they aren’t as worthy as each of us are of salvation? Why do we pick out a sin, a difference of opinion or personality, and turn our backs on those who have accepted Christ? Our job is to love as Christ loves us. He doesn’t wait for us to turn from our sins or think like him to love us. We need to love people right where they are and in this way model His love for us.
We all need more love in our lives, so let’s spend more time trying to out love each other instead of casting judgment on those who don’t think or act just like us.
“We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.”
